Historic Preservation
Originally known as the Barclay-Vesey building, or the New York Telephone Building, One Hundred Barclay was designated a New York City Landmark in 1999. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

Architect of the Century : Ralph Walker
Ralph Walker made his reputation on the Barclay-Vesey Building — today One Hundred Barclay. Since then he has been named “Architect of the Century” by the American Institute of Architects, which awarded him the Centennial Medal of Honor in 1957.

Architectural Landmark
Constructed 1923-1927 for the American Telephone Company, One Hundred Barclay became the world’s first skyscraper built in the American Art Deco style. Strong in form and bold in profile, the building’s blunt setback transitions are enunciated by vertical buttress-like piers; its form is softened by intricate ornamentation.
